Denmark's battery storage market in 2026: projects, pipeline and where to build
From Kvosted and Stouby to the BattMan pipeline and Kassø BESS: an overview of Danish battery storage and how to scout sites near Energinet substations.
Where the market stands
Denmark has only a handful of large batteries in operation — including Kvosted (50 MW / 200 MWh), Stouby (28 MW / 112 MWh) and Hasle on Bornholm (30 MW) — but the pipeline is growing fast. BattMan Energy is building several sites across Jutland, a 90 MW battery at Kassø is permitted next to the solar park, and Ørsted is building storage at Avedøre.
Why now
Denmark's high share of wind and solar creates large price swings and a need for balancing. Energinet's growing connection queue — around 60 GW of requests — means good locations are being claimed now.

How to scout
Start at 132/150 kV substations with room to grow, check land within 1–2 km, and screen neighbours, nature and zoning before talking to the municipality. Many project locations on our map are approximate; treat them as a guide, not a survey.
Gridscouter scores are estimates from open map data, not grid operator capacity figures. Always confirm capacity with Energinet or the local grid company.
Every Gridscouter plan starts with 14 days of full access for €0 today. Cancel any time before the trial ends and you pay nothing.
