Connecting renewable projects to the grid in Montenegro

How grid connection works in Montenegro, the role of CGES and CEDIS, and practical tips for solar, wind and storage developers.

Operators

CGES runs the 400, 220 and 110 kV transmission grid; CEDIS runs distribution. Most utility-scale projects connect at 110 kV.

Process

Developers request connection conditions, CGES prepares a study, and a connection agreement follows. Large projects may also need an energy permit from the ministry.

Tip

The grid is small, so a single large project can fill a substation. Ask early. General overview, not legal advice.
