The Montenegro–Italy HVDC cable and what it means for developers

How the Lastva–Pescara subsea cable connects Montenegro to Italy, and why it matters for renewable and storage projects across the Western Balkans.

The link

The cable runs about 445 km under the Adriatic from Lastva near Kotor to Pescara. It connects the Balkan grid to the Italian market.

Why it matters

Italian prices are often higher than Balkan prices, so power flowing west earns more. Coastal and central 400 kV nodes gain value for solar and storage.

Note

Gridscouter scores are estimates from open map data, not grid operator capacity figures. Confirm connection capacity with the grid operator.
