Croatia's energy transition to 2031: what developers should watch

Key trends for solar, wind, storage and grid in Croatia toward 2031: HOPS grid plans, Dalmatian wind and solar, and growing battery demand.

Solar is accelerating

Croatia's solar capacity has grown fast since 2022, led by Dalmatia and Slavonia. Large parks are planned around Šibenik, Zadar, Obrovac and in eastern Croatia.

Wind in Dalmatia

Most wind farms sit in the Dalmatian hinterland between Zadar and Split. New projects increasingly include repowering of older turbines.

Grid

HOPS, the transmission operator, publishes a ten-year development plan with new 400 kV and 220 kV reinforcements, especially to move southern renewable power north. Gridscouter scores are estimates from open map data, not grid operator capacity figures. Confirm connection capacity with the grid operator.
