Sweden's high-voltage grid: a developer's guide

Svenska kraftnät's 400 and 220 kV grid and the regional 130 kV networks explained.

Who runs the grid

Svenska kraftnät runs the 400 and 220 kV national grid. Regional networks at 130 and 70 kV are run mainly by Vattenfall Eldistribution, E.ON and Ellevio.

Bidding zones

Sweden is split into four price zones, SE1 to SE4. Prices are usually highest in the south, which matters for where storage and demand projects make money.

Connections

Most projects connect to the regional grid operator first. Queues are long around big cities, so check planned upgrades.

Note

Gridscouter scores are estimates from open map data, not grid operator capacity figures. Confirm connection capacity with the grid operator.
