Getting a grid connection in the Netherlands: a developer's guide

How large solar, wind, battery and data center projects get connected in the Netherlands, from TenneT to regional operators, and how congestion changes the process.

Who to ask

TenneT handles 110 kV and above; Liander, Stedin and Enexis run regional grids. Large projects usually go to TenneT.

Congestion rules

Requests join a queue. Projects that offer flexibility (for example batteries or non-firm contracts) can sometimes get priority or faster access.

Tip

Combine solar or wind with storage behind one connection to use capacity better. General overview, not legal advice.
