Poland issued 34 GW of battery connection conditions — and connected 0.1 GW
PSE's connection register shows 34.5 GW of battery conditions issued, 21.1 GW of agreements in force, and zero free capacity at any transmission substation. How to read Poland's storage queue.
What the register says
PSE's aggregated connection register shows the scale of Polish battery ambition — and the gap to reality. Connection conditions issued: 34.5 GW discharge and 36.2 GW charge. Connection agreements in force: 21.1 GW. Complete applications under review: 7.9 GW. Actually connected: 0.1 GW. Source: Zonio analysis of PSE and DSO registers, 13 October 2026 (zonio.tech).
Zero free capacity
PSE's transmission grid shows zero available connection capacity at every substation for both 2026 and 2031. At distribution level, none of the 415 grid areas of PGE, Enea, TAURON and Energa has 100 MW free in both directions, and only three have 50 MW. Refusals are shrinking in number but growing in size: 4,897 refusals in 2025 covered 107 GW, up from 73.6 GW a year earlier.

Our take
Most of the 34 GW will never be built — these are options, not projects. But the register tells you where serious money sits: 397 BESS projects hold conditions totalling 82 GW, yet only 66 projects (11.5 GW) have signed connection agreements. The signed ones are the competitors that matter. When you evaluate a substation, the question is not how much capacity is requested there, but how much is actually contracted.
What to do with this
Treat the queue as a filter, not a wall. Look for substations where conditions were issued but projects stalled — those slots come back. Gridscouter's Poland map ranks substations and shows planned projects, so you can see where the real competition sits. Every Gridscouter plan starts with 14 days of full access for €0 today. Cancel any time before the trial ends and you pay nothing.
Gridscouter scores are estimates from open map data, not grid operator capacity figures. Always confirm connection capacity with the grid operator.
