Poland's grid connection process & queues

Navigating connection refusals and capacity allocation in Poland.

Grid capacity

The Polish grid is facing significant congestion due to the rapid growth of renewables. Connection refusals from PSE and DSOs are increasingly common.

The application process

Developers must apply for connection conditions (warunki przyłączenia). This requires a preliminary technical study and a deposit (zaliczka).

Capacity allocation

Available capacity is often taken quickly. PSE publishes periodic updates on grid capacity, but these are quickly outdated by new applications.

Modernisation plans

Poland is investing billions in grid upgrades, including new 400 kV lines. Projects located near these planned upgrades have better long-term prospects.

Note

Gridscouter scores are estimates from open map data, not grid operator capacity figures. Confirm connection capacity with the grid operator.
