SuedLink, SuedOstLink and Germany's north–south grid corridors

How Germany's HVDC corridors will carry northern wind power south, when they are due, and what they mean for project developers.

The corridors

SuedLink, SuedOstLink, A-Nord and Ultranet are HVDC lines that link wind-rich northern Germany with the industrial south.

Why it matters

Until they run, northern wind is often curtailed and southern prices stay higher. Converter stations at their ends become key nodes for storage and demand.

Note

Years are estimates based on public plans. Gridscouter scores are estimates from open map data, not grid operator capacity figures. Confirm connection capacity with the grid operator.
