Best BESS, solar, wind and data center sites in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Where to build battery storage, solar, wind and data centers in Bosnia and Herzegovina: top-ranked substations, suggested sizes and how the scores work.
How the ranking works
Gridscouter scores every substation of 110 kV and above for each technology. Scores combine voltage level, number of connected lines, nearby solar and wind, terrain, and distance to towns. Each site also gets a suggested size.
Battery storage (BESS)
TS Trebinje ranks first at 90/100, with a suggested 260 MW / 520 MWh. It sits on the 400 kV network in Herzegovina, where most new solar is planned. TS Mostar and TS Tomislavgrad follow.
Solar
TS Tuzla 4 ranks first at 88/100 for solar, with room for about 285 MWp: a strong 400 kV node with flat land nearby. Herzegovina gets more sun, but its grid is busier.
Wind
TS Tomislavgrad leads at 81/100 (about 60 MW), close to the high ridges where Bosnia's existing wind farms stand.
Data centers
A 400 kV substation about 8 km from Sarajevo ranks first at 71/100, with an estimated 245 MW. Data centers need a strong grid, flat land and a nearby city.
Land near these sites
Paid plans include land patches around the top sites, excluding towns, forests, water, protected areas and steep slopes, with links to satellite view and the land registries. Gridscouter scores are estimates built from open map data, not grid operator capacity figures. Always confirm connection capacity with the grid operator.
