How grid connection works in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Step-by-step overview of connecting a solar, wind or battery project to the grid in Bosnia and Herzegovina: who does what, and common delays.

Who is involved

Elektroprenos BiH owns the transmission grid, NOS BiH operates it, and three utilities (EP BiH, EP HZHB and ERS) run distribution. Projects above roughly 10 MW usually connect at 110 kV.

Typical steps

A request for connection conditions, a grid study, the connection agreement and finally construction of the connection. Entity-level rules differ between the Federation and Republika Srpska.

Where delays come from

Grid studies can take months when many projects queue at the same substation. Checking how many projects are planned nearby before you apply saves time. This is a general overview, not legal advice.
