Planned energy projects in France to 2031: offshore wind, HVDC and AI campuses
Offshore wind farms, the Bay of Biscay HVDC link, battery projects and data center campuses due in France by 2031, with status and sources.
The short version
Gridscouter's France forecast follows offshore wind at Dieppe-Le Tréport, Yeu-Noirmoutier, Dunkerque and Centre Manche 1, the 2 GW Bay of Biscay HVDC link to Spain, a 100 MW battery near Reims and the planned AI campus at Fouju. Each item links to its public source.
Offshore wind sets the pace
Dieppe-Le Tréport and Yeu-Noirmoutier (about 500 MW each) are due first, followed by Dunkerque (600 MW) and Centre Manche 1 (1 GW). Their landing points become strong grid nodes on the coast.
Interconnection and data centers
The Cubnezais converter station near Bordeaux connects the new undersea link to Gatika in Spain. Around Paris, large AI data center campuses are announced, which raises local demand for grid capacity.
What it means for developers
Storage next to offshore landing points and large new loads gains value. Years are estimates based on public announcements and can slip.
